Marc Jacobs was born in New York City on 9th April 1963, and as well as being the head designer for Marc Jacobs which he launched in 1986 and Marc by Marc Jacobs, the collection of comparatively affordable mass-market pieces, he is also the creative director of Louis Vuitton.

In 1987 Jacobs became the youngest ever winner of the Perry Ellis award for New Fashion Talent, another acolade to add to his growing collection including Design Student of the Year 1984, and followed in 1992 by the Women’s Designer of The Year award.

Most of the Marc Jacobs collections highlight the vintage trends of the 1940s to 1980s and have built up a huge following.
