Another fabulous collection of handbags from a fashion brand that only ventured into accessories production by default.  Like many others of the era, the original craft for the Max Mara Fashion House was couture clothing design, but future success was seen to be in designer quality clothing for the mass market.

The House of Max Mara was founded in Italy in 1951 by Achille Maramotti, who started designing clothing in 1947.  Maramotti was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy on 7th January 1927 and studied for a law degree at the University of Parma in Rome.  He died five days after his birthday on 12th January 2005.  The business is still family run to this day, with his two sons and daughter involved in Max Mara; one son, Luigi being chairman.

Max Mara currently operates 2254 stores in 90 countries.
